Tonos humanos and instrumental music of 17th-century Spain
Shimmering colors and blazing rhythms: Spain at the turn of the 17th century.
With this program, Les Kapsber’girls venture into the vibrant lands of Spanish Baroque. The tonos humanos, these secular songs in the vernacular language, freely express human passions: ardent love, jealousy, desire, abandonment.
Alternating vocal works by Hidalgo, Arañés, and Marín with instrumental pieces by Sanz and Ribayaz, the ensemble offers a concert of lively, dance-like sounds, enriched by the addition of harp and percussion.
This is a popular, sensual, and contrasting Spain that is revealed here, between musical theatre and poetic trance.
